The following announcement is from the HaRVI (Haptics Robotics and Virtual Interaction) lab. Please contact them directly if you have any questions.
The HaRVI (Haptics Robotics and Virtual Interaction) lab is conducting a user study to explore how sub-threshold (cannot be sensed) electrical stimuli (stochastic resonance) at the ankle affects the users’ balance in virtual reality. We would like to invite you to participate in our study.
The experiment has 3 phases,
- Sensitivity Calibration (left),
- Sensitivity Calibration (right)
- and the Actual experiment.
Prior to calibration, we will affix two pairs of electrodes each on your left and right ankles. We will calibrate the electrical signal sensitivity threshold. After that, you will wear Oculus Quest 2 to experience a simple VR scene for 2 minutes. You will be asked to sit and stand between each condition of the experiment.
- Location: Ronald Tutor Hall 4th floor RTH 416/A
- Duration: The whole experiment should take about 40-45 minutes
